SUMMARY:First Day Honey Creek Guided Walks at Guadalupe River State Park
DESCRIPTION:First Day Honey Creek Guided Walks offer an opportunity to start the new year outdoors while exploring the natural and cultural history of one of Texas’ last pristine waterways. Led by certified guides\, these interpretive walks explore Honey Creek through discussions of local flora\, fauna\, geology\, and the area’s cultural significance. The walk follows a roughly 2-mile trail of moderate difficulty\, with mostly flat terrain along with some rocky areas\, slopes\, and a few short but steep hills\, and typically lasts about two and a half hours due to frequent educational stops. \nThe guided walks take place on Thursday\, January 1\, 2026\, with start times at 9 am\, 10 am\, and 1 pm. Participants will meet outside the Rust House within Guadalupe River State Park\, located at 3350 Park Road 31\, Spring Branch\, TX 78070. Registration is required in advance\, and participants who complete the walk will receive a First Day Hike sticker. Admission to the program is free with park entry\, which is $7 for adults and free for children ages 12 and under. Day-use reservations are strongly recommended to ensure park entry. \nThe walk is recommended for ages 7 and up\, with dogs not permitted except for service animals. Participants should bring drinking water\, sun protection\, and sturdy shoes\, and dress appropriately for the weather. Those needing ADA accommodations are encouraged to request assistance at least two weeks in advance. Park programs are subject to change or cancellation due to inclement weather.
