After a year away, the Back the Badge 5K Run/Walk returns to Boerne on Saturday, October 31, 2026, bringing runners, walkers, families, and supporters together in support of Kendall County law enforcement agencies. Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome, with a scenic course showcasing the Texas Hill Country.

The 5K begins at 7:30 am CDT and is scheduled to finish by 9:30 am. The event features overall and Masters awards for male and female participants, along with age-group awards in 10-year increments from ages 0–19 through 70 and over. Race registration is $40 plus a $3.40 SignUp fee, with the price increasing to $45 after October 2 at 11:59 pm CDT.

The course begins at the Kendall County Fairgrounds on a dirt surface before continuing along the paved Rails for Trails #9 Line and entering the wide, maintained trails of the Cibolo Nature Center. Runners and walkers are welcome, and well-mannered leashed dogs and strollers may participate.

Race-day packet pickup and registration begin at 6:15 am, followed by opening ceremonies at 7 am. Participants will receive a Back the Badge race shirt and finisher medal.

The Back the Badge 5K will be held rain or shine. Portions of the course may be altered in wet or muddy conditions to help protect participants and the natural areas of the Cibolo Nature Center.
