SUMMARY:Cibolo Nature Center Bird Survey at Cibolo Center for Conservation
DESCRIPTION:Birding enthusiasts of all experience levels are invited to participate in a monthly bird survey at Cibolo Nature Center. Volunteers will help identify and count bird species across diverse habitats\, including riparian\, woodland\, prairie\, and marsh areas. Each habitat’s tally will be recorded in eBird\, a database managed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. \nThe survey takes place on the first Monday of each month\, beginning at 8 am\, except for June through September\, when the start time is 7:30 am. Volunteers will meet at the Cibolo Nature Center Pavilion before heading out on a 2 to 2.5-mile walking route across flat terrain with some steps. \nParticipants should bring binoculars\, wear long pants and sturdy shoes\, and bring water\, a hat\, and sun protection. This survey is co-sponsored by Bexar Audubon Society and Cibolo Center for Conservation and qualifies for Alamo and Hill Country Master Naturalist volunteer hours. \nFor more information\, contact Cibolo Center for Conservation at sarahv@cibolo.org or 830-388-7679.

DESCRIPTION:Mrs. Malkie Marrus is a veteran Judaic Studies educator at the Starr Family Jewish Day School. She holds a Teacher’s Certification and Degree from the Beth Rivka Teacher’s Seminary in Brooklyn\, NY. She and her husband Rabbi Yashi of Chabad of Boerne have presented cultural appreciation programs for us in the past. \nThis program will include the story behind Challah bread and demonstration of how to braid the bread. Each child will then get a loaf of the uncooked bread served on an aluminum tray. They will braid it themselves (or with parent if a toddler) with instruction on how to bake in their ovens at home. Space is limited to 50 people.
