SUMMARY:Cibolo Nature Center Bird Survey at Cibolo Center for Conservation
DESCRIPTION:Birding enthusiasts of all experience levels are invited to participate in a monthly bird survey at Cibolo Nature Center. Volunteers will help identify and count bird species across diverse habitats\, including riparian\, woodland\, prairie\, and marsh areas. Each habitat’s tally will be recorded in eBird\, a database managed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. \nThe survey takes place on the first Monday of each month\, beginning at 8 am\, except for June through September\, when the start time is 7:30 am. Volunteers will meet at the Cibolo Nature Center Pavilion before heading out on a 2 to 2.5-mile walking route across flat terrain with some steps. \nParticipants should bring binoculars\, wear long pants and sturdy shoes\, and bring water\, a hat\, and sun protection. Guests will enjoy a Dutch-treat lunch at the Power Plant Restaurant and benefit from local insights shared by guides from the Seguin Visitor Center. The tour will conclude with a return to Boerne by approximately 4:30 pm. \nDonations are accepted at each tour location. RSVP is required by contacting Nalga Megane at 281-639-7800. DESCRIPTION:The Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) – Boerne Chapter hosts its monthly meetings at The Cibolo\, bringing together conservation-minded individuals to learn from expert guest speakers on topics related to native plants\, ecology\, and conservation. Each meeting begins with a social hour and potluck at 6 pm\, followed by a presentation at 7 pm. \nIn September\, they are thrilled to welcome Edward “Eddie” Seidensticker as their guest speaker on Native Grasses of the Texas Hill Country. \n\nEddie was raised on his family ranch near Waring\, TX\, and spent 40 years with the Soil Conservation Service\, specializing in conservation and coastal erosion. He currently serves on the boards of both the Kendall Soil & Water Conservation District and the Kendall County Historical Commission.\n\n\nYou are invited to join the group even if you have no prior gardening experience.
