Alamo Springs Cafe is basically in the middle of nowhere, located between Comfort and Fredericksburg, TX, about 20 miles from Boerne, TX (or a slow, windy 35 minute drive). But it’s a favorite stop of ours when visiting the Old Tunnel State Park.

It’s also famous for its “Cover Burger,” which graced the cover of Texas Monthly back in 2006.

Unfortunately, as of the end of July 2024, the cafe abruptly closed. Some places have it marked “permanently closed,” but it’s Yelp profile says it slated to reopen in April of 2025.
