Texas Star Mushroom Walk and Talk at Herff Farm

Discover the fascinating world of fungi at the Texas Star Mushroom Walk and Talk, hosted by the Cibolo Center for Conservation on Tuesday, January 16, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Herff Farm in Boerne, TX. This engaging experience explores the unique story of the hissing Texas Star, Central Texas’s official state mushroom, and its incredible role in the local ecosystem.
Participants will learn about cutting-edge mycology programs from the Central Texas Mycology community and gain insights into the interconnected world of fungi. Attendees will also take home a mushroom grow block, offering a hands-on opportunity to experience the magic of mushroom cultivation.
The session will be led by Angel Schatz, a passionate urban gardener and educator with expertise in blending vegetable gardening and mushroom cultivation. Angel’s enthusiasm for Central Texas ecosystems and her commitment to accessible mycology education make this event a must for nature enthusiasts.
