Where to Get Breakfast in Boerne

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Boerne has breakfast on lock. If you’re a breakfast lover, then this is your town. Really, there’s just so many great options for those looking to eat out early!

So with that in mind, our goal here is to provide you with options locals love. Or more specifically, options we love. So here’s where to eat breakfast in Boerne, and what we like to order!

Boerne’s Newest Breakfast Offering

Epicure is a Boerne favorite known for lunch, but don’t sleep on their new breakfast! Head over to 111 Staffel St for breakfast from 8 am – 10 am Mon – Sat at the brand new Epicure Gourmet Delicatessen.

We recommend the Biscuit and Gravy and the Breakfast Croissant Sandwich. Oh, and the coffee is delicious, too! See the menu here.

Boerne’s All Day Breakfast and Brunch Offering

Brunch… breakfast… it’s all the same, right? Okay, not exactly, but Sunny’s All Day Brunch & Bar serves up breakfast, brunch, and dinner (great cheeseburger) all day long, from 8 am – 9 pm 7 days a week.

Breakfast offerings at Sunny’s include everything from French Toast dippers and stacks of pancakes to sweet crepes and breakfast samplers. All served in a trendy café atmosphere with what might be the best patio in Boerne.

There was a ton of hyper around Sunny’s before it opened, and we can honestly say it has more than delivered.

Find them at 518 River Road.

For a Good Old Fashioned Breakfast

If you want the staples – eggs, bacon, toast – then Boerne Grill is hard to beat. It has a great atmosphere, and my kids love to sit in the window seats. We recommend you try the biscuits and gravy as well as the beignets. Outside of breakfast, people also love their lunch, including soup!

Boerne Grill is open at 6 am all week, except 7 am on Sunday and closed on Tuesdays.

For Breakfast Tacos

This is a fun one. Well, because there’s a bit of a feud here amongst locals. Stop anyone who lives in Boerne and ask them where the best breakfast tacos are, and the answer will be a coin flip between two places: Mary’s Tacos and Mague’s Cafe.

As for our personal preference, for out money, the value at Mary’s is hard to beat. You get giant tacos for $2-3. The tortillas are fresh and awesome. Go with the Sean. And make sure to order chips and salsa. Trust us, you won’t regret it.

Pro tip: order online and you can skip the line and head straight to their online order pickup register.

Mary’s opens at 6 am all week except 7 am on Sundays.

On the other hand Mague’s Cafe, has been around for 40 years, making it one of the oldest restaurants in Boerne. And they’re still open for a reason! Like Mary’s Mague’s tacos are a great value and have homemade tortillas.

In fact, Stone Cold Steve Austin once mentioned in an interview that this was his favorite spot in Boerne.

Pro tip: order the sweet tea!

Mague’s opens at 7 am all week, but is closed on Mondays.

And finally, we’d be remiss not to feature one of our newest discoveries. Tacos Losoya is a food truck located off Cascade Caverns Rd. in front of the hotel. It’s delicious!

For Pastries

When it comes to pastries, Bear Moon Bakery is your spot. Located off Main Street next to Free Roam Brewing, Bear Moon is Boerne’s quintessential small town bakery. From flaky danishes to cheesy piggies, there’s something both sweet and savory here for everyone. And the decor is great too.

It’s hard to recommend any one thing, but our regular orders include: blueberry cream cheese danish, apple danish, fruit flip, almond bar, and cheesy pigs. As you can imagine, this is a great spot for the kids.

Pro tip: If you go the last hour (from 1-2) on Sundays, everything is half off!

Bear Moon is open Wednesday – Friday at 7 am, and at 8 am on Saturdays and Sundays.

Boerne also has a newer Mexican bakery in town: Mi Pueblo. It’s on the North end of Main Street and a great spot – especially if you’re looking to stay on budget!

For a Mexican Breakfast

Las Guitarras Cocina Mexicana serves up top tier Mexican food here in town. And that includes their breakfast menu. They’re open every day at 8 am, except 9 am on Sundays.

You can view their breakfast menu here.

Las Guitarras also will often do breakfast buffets for special events like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

For Donuts

When it’s donut time, our go-to spot is Snowflake Donuts. There are two locations in Boerne, but we prefer the one on Main Street near the vet and pool supply store.

If you want a good old fashioned, no frills glazed donut, this is the place. They melt in your mouth like candy! Of course, they have all the fancy stuff too. But my pro tip here is just go with the classic, and you won’t be disappointed!

Oh wait, one more pro-tip – be careful backing out here. You basically have to back out right onto Main Street, and people can come pretty fast over the hill there!

Snowflake opens at 5 am every day of the week.

Late Night Diner

Boerne doesn’t have a 24 hour eatery, but there is one spot open until midnight – Denny’s across from HEB. Chances are you know all about Denny’s since it’s a national chain, so I won’t go into a lot of detail, but if you’re looking to sit and have some food after a night out, this is your spot. It’s open 5 am – 12 am all week long.

Pro tip: kids eat free here on Tuesdays. Pretty sure it’s the only spot in Boerne!

Breakfast Spot for Tourists

If you’re a tourist, you want to stop at The Dienger Trading Co. We don’t mean that in a bad way—it’s a must-visit for first-timers! The Dienger is a historical landmark, maybe the oldest building in Boerne. And they did a phenomenal job restoring it and converting it into a restaurant with adjoining boutique. It feels very upscale.

This is one of the most Instagrammable breakfast spots in Boerne as well. It’s just downright beautiful.

And the food? You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Last time I was there, I got their breakfast croissant sandwich, and it was delicious.

The Dienger Trading Co. is open at 7:30 am all week except for Sundays, 8:30 am.

Breakfast Spot Tucked in a Neighborhood

The final place we want to make sure we mention here is Bakery Lorraine. We personally go here more for afternoon cappuccinos and cookies, but that doesn’t mean breakfast isn’t amazing too.

Bakery Lorraine is tucked away off Oak Park. They did an amazing job restoring an old gas station and turning it into a quaint little cafe.

It’s a small menu, but if you want to eat at a cute bakery cafe with upscale dining, this is your spot.

Pro tip: if the weather is nice, sit under the giant oak tree out back.

Bakery Lorraine is open all week at 7:30 am.
