The Patrick Heath Public Library is a 30,000+ square feet library in Boerne, TX, named after a former Boerne mayor. It opened upon completion on June 4, 2011, after the Boerne Public Library closed at the Dienger building further south on Main Street.
The library offers a catalogue of books, DVDs, video games, instruments, projectors, and more for loan. There are digital books to download and other online resources. It also houses discussion groups, workshops for kids, tech help, and events for seniors.
Featured Library Event: The Boerne Book Festival
Join booklovers from around Texas at the Patrick Heath Public Library in Boerne on Saturday, October 4, 2025, for a day of author discussion panels, book signings, vendors, and a lot more literary fun.
Featured authors this year include Bryan Burrough, Norma Cantú, Stephen Harrigan, Kazu Kibuishi, Andrew Porter, Denise Mazal Resnerova, Diana Barrios Treviño, James Wade, and many more! Featured vendors include The Writers’ League of Texas, The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Texas Tech University Press, Texas A&M Press, and University of Texas Press.
Boerne Library Facilities for Rent
The Patrick Heath Public Library also offers various facilities for patrons to reserve and use. These include:
- Study rooms – 5 study rooms of various sizes for one to six people. Can reserve for up to two hours in a day.
- Conference room – A 500 square foot space that seats up to 14. To reserve, fill out this PDF and email here.
- Community room -1,400 square foot space for larger events up to 100 people. There a kitchen, various equipment such as TV and microphone, and more. To reserve, fill out this PDF and email here.

Outside, there’s an amphitheater for music, Art Al Fresco art installations and a lawn for various events. One of the pieces of art is a beautiful bench with statues of two children sitting and reading on it. And there’s plenty of room in the center for you to join them!
And there’s also a relatively new playground!
There’s also a bridge connecting to the city Old Number 9 Trail System. Next door is the Bookshop Under the Windmill, which offers used books for sale, with proceeds benefitting the Patrick Heath Public Library.
Currently, there’s work being done on a natural vegetation area across the dry creek that will feature trails and benches. The library also received a grant, which will be used to build out a playground, among other things.
Library services include book loans, book discussion groups, downloadable books, local and family history research, meeting space, and senior outreach and home-bound delivery. The Patrick Heath Public Library is the home of several Art Al Fresco public art pieces and the amphitheater where arts and cultural events are hosted year-round.
The Memory Lab
Located on the second floor of the Patrick Heath Public Library, the Boerne Memory Lab is a do-it-yourself space where residents can digitize and preserve old family photos, VHS tapes, recordings, slides, and more. It’s open to the public and offers free access to equipment for preserving personal, family, and community history.
Before using the lab, guests must complete a one-time orientation and sign a user agreement. Once that’s done, the lab can be reserved during its open hours.

Thursday: 1 pm – 6 pm
Friday: 10 am – 2 pm
Open the fourth Saturday of each month from 10 am – 3 pm
