Restaurants in Boerne for Kids

1. Hamby’s

Hamby’s is a modern take on a classic burger joint off Main Street in Boerne. From simple burgers to delicious corn dogs, it’s really easy to find something your kid will want to eat here. But perhaps the real star of Hamby’s is the vintage arcade. There is an entire line of pinball machines, along with a handful of old arcade games (think Pac-Man) and a claw machine. And most recently, they added a small vintage carousel for the little ones!

2. El Chaparral

El Chaparral is a great Tex-Mex place off of Old San Antonio Road near the police station. But what really makes it stand apart from all the other Mexican restaurants in town is its expansive and beautiful patio that allows you to sit outside with the kids and enjoy the trees and the weather. There’s a playground for the kids, as well as a game room filled with claw-style games.

3. Las Palapas

Las Palapas is closer to a fast casual style Mexican restaurant than others in town, as it has a drive thru. The patio is pretty small, but what makes it kid-friendly is that it’s fenced in with yard-style games. So it’s easy to sit and enjoy your meal while your littles ones play right near you in a contained area.

4. Pure Country

If you’ve been in Boerne for a while, you were sad to see the family-favorite Dog and Pony close its doors. The good news is that a new concept called Pure Country BBQ and Grill opened in the same spot with a very similar vibe. There’s a ton of room to run around outside with a playground, basketball court, and more. And there are plenty of picnic tables to accommodate scores of families.

5. Inferno’s Pizza

Kids love pizza. So it makes sense that if you’re looking for where to eat with kids in Boerne, then you want to know about our pizza joints like Inferno’s. They also love the small playground on the patio that’s shaded by a sprawling oak tree at Inferno’s Pizza. Drive by this spot located on River Road towards Champion High School, and you’ll always see families hanging out and kids playing. The patio is fenced well too, so you don’t have to worry about the kids taking off!

6. Longhorn Cafe

Longhorn Cafe has been a family-favorite meetup spot for a while. While there is no playground, the patio is such that there is a lot of space for the kids to run around and play. Inside, you’ll find a few arcade games as well. The menu also lends itself well to kids with burgers, chicken fried steak, etc.

7. N’s Thai Food

N’s Thai Food has authentic Thai food and a beautiful patio. But more recently, they added a really nice playset for the kids. It’s a wonderful place to sit back, eat good food, enjoy a cool breeze, and watch the kids run around and have fun. There’s also a room off to the side when you walk in with games for the kiddos.

8. Cibolo Creek Brewing Company

Cibolo Creek Brewing Company is probably the most popular brew pub in town. But it’s not just for adults, as the patio and porch often have plenty of kids hanging out. They have yard games like giant Connect Four, along with wooden blocks kids can play with on the stage when there’s no live music.

9. Mikey’s Chicken and Tavern

If you want to venture south of I-10 near Fair Oaks, you’ll find one of the more family-friendly restaurants in Boerne, Mikey’s Chicken and Tavern. Burgers, wings, fries and similar fare make up the menu. The patio area is shaded by huge oak trees with tons for the kids. Think playscapes and bounce houses.

10. Free Roam Brewing

Okay, Free Roam technically isn’t a restaurant – it’s a brewery. That said, it does have food trucks in the beer garden. And there’s an area at the back with games that is almost always teaming with kids.

11. Darkside Pizza

Heading out 46 in between Bergheim and Boerne is a very special spot – Darkside Pizza. When you walk in, you’ll be transported back to the 1980’s, with all sorts of really cool memorabilia from Back to the Future, Star Wars, and more. Kids will love looking around, and the pizza is really good. There’s also a small corner with vintage arcade games.

12. Chilitos Express

This is probably the most under the radar on the list, as it’s tucked away off Johns Road back behind the Hill Country Animal Emergency Hospital. It’s a literally hidden gem. Even more hidden is the fact that even further back, they have a playground! So you can grab some of the best tamales in the area (cream cheese jalapeno please) and let the kids play!

13. Coming Soon: Carmella’s Pizza Parlor

Great news! We have a new kid-friendly restaurant coming to 110 Market Ave off North Main. It’s called Carmella’s Pizza Parlor, and it will offer a nostalgic pizza parlor experience complete with an arcade for the kids! This is a collaboration between the owners of 28 Songs Brewhouse + Kitchen and the foudner and chef of Z’s Pizza. So we’re really excited. Look for it to open early in 2026.
