Sprouts, Chipotle, Panda Nothing Bundt Cakes… Boerne Town Center Is Still Coming

Back in March, we broke the news that Sprouts was coming to Boerne, along with other businesses such as Panda Express, Chipotle, and more.

If you’ve been driving past the Boerne Town Center site lately and wondering what’s going on, you’re not alone. We’ve heard from plenty of readers asking whether Sprouts and other businesses are still coming — especially with construction appearing quiet at times.

Presented by Mr. Electric

The holidays have a funny way of putting your home to the test — especially when guests are coming to town. Between extra lights, new electronics, and a house full of people, December is often when small electrical issues decide to show up at the worst possible time.

Mr. Electric of Boerne helps homeowners knock out those last-minute electrical to-dos before company arrives, from overloaded circuits and flickering lights to surge protection for new appliances. They also offer home safety checks to help give peace of mind heading into winter weather.

Well, we have an update for you. The short answer: we can confirm that yes, the development is still moving forward.

The longer answer involves infrastructure, permits, and timing.

Why Construction Appears Slow Right Now

According to City of Boerne Communications Director Chris Shadrock, the project is in a phase that isn’t very visible from the road.

“They still have some additional infrastructure improvements to make on the site,” Shadrock said.

He cited another development to explain what that might look like.

“Another example of required infrastructure work was the turn lane from Main Street onto Herff Road. [The development’s] traffic impact analysis showed enough traffic impact that it triggered the turn lane, so it needed to be built before permits are issued.”

In other words, before individual tenants can begin building out their spaces in Boerne Town Center, certain traffic and site improvements may need to be completed first.

What Happens After Infrastructure Is Finished

Shadrock said the developer continues to work closely with the city so things can move faster once that work is complete.

“The developer continues to work with the city to get the ‘finish out’ permits ready to go for each tenant,” he said. “So once the site work and infrastructure is complete, the permits will be ready to be pulled more quickly.”

So while work seems to have slowed at the building site, there is still progress happening behind the scenes.

Nothing Bundt Cakes Confirms 2026 Opening

There was also a fresh sign of life this past weekend. At the Jingle All the Way 5K, Nothing Bundt Cakes had a pop-up tent handing out free samples (side note: they were really good). The owners confirmed they are the same group opening the Boerne location at Boerne Town Center and shared that they’ve been assured by developers they are targeting a 2026 opening.

Nothing Bundt Cakes is one of several confirmed tenants (Panda Express, Chipotle, etc.) expected to join Sprouts at the development.

Bottom Line

Sprouts Farmers Market is still planned as the anchor tenant at Boerne Town Center, and there’s no indication the project has been canceled or abandoned. The development is currently working through required infrastructure improvements that must happen before tenant permits can move forward.

As always, we’ll keep tracking filings, permits, and progress — and we’ll share updates as soon as there’s something new to see.
