Art AfterHours – Discharge Dyeing at Hill Country Council for the Arts

Art AfterHours – Discharge Dyeing explores a fascinating textile process that removes and reintroduces color through controlled chemical reactions. Participants will work with dyed fabric to create patterns and imagery by pulling color from the surface, then selectively adding color back using permanent textile paints. The class also introduces how dye colors are created by reversing traditional dyeing methods, offering a deeper understanding of color chemistry and design.
This workshop will take place on June 30 from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Hill Country Council for the Arts, located at 102 City Park Rd., Boerne, TX 78006. A variety of tools such as stamps, stencils, and brushes will be used throughout the session. Admission is $35 and includes instruction and materials. This class is suitable for beginners as well as artists interested in expanding their fiber arts techniques.
