The City of Boerne will commemorate the completion of improvements at Northrup Park’s Field 11 with a special “Flip the Switch” Celebration on Tuesday, March 3, at 6 pm at 37550 Interstate 10 W, Boerne, TX 78006. The event marks the successful delivery of a key component of the 2022 Bond Election, including the installation of new sports field lighting at both Northrup Park and Boerne City Park.

Northrup Park has long been a cornerstone of youth and adult athletics in Boerne. In 1995, the City of Boerne purchased 103 acres from the Lynn L. Northrup Jr. family to meet the growing need for youth baseball, softball, and adult league fields. Since opening in 2000, the park has served generations of local families and athletes and continues to play an important role in the community.

The celebration will include hot dogs, drinks, and fun giveaways, along with brief remarks from city leaders. The evening will conclude with a ceremonial “flip the switch” as the new lights are officially turned on, highlighting continued investment in Boerne’s parks and recreation facilities.
