A free, family-friendly open house will celebrate history, community collaboration, and renewal at the Historic Welfare Schoolhouse in Comfort. The event highlights a recent restoration project made possible through the efforts of Boerne Paint Co., Covenant, and the Friends of the Historic Welfare Schoolhouse, who worked together to refresh the exterior of this important Hill Country landmark.

Guests can learn about the schoolhouse’s role in local history, as it served the community from the late 1800s until 1952, when area schools consolidated into the state system. The open house also offers an opportunity to hear about the renovation process, connect with local businesses, and explore the newly updated space in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

The open house will take place on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 1 pm to 3 pm CST at the Historic Welfare Schoolhouse in Comfort, Texas. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome.
