BOERNE, TX — In a vibrant fusion of art and advocacy, 14 local artists from the Carriage House Gallery of Artists, are channeling their creative talents to support the Monarch Butterfly Fund.
With Boerne as an important waypoint in the monarch’s epic migration, this initiative seeks to raise both awareness and funds through a unique exhibition that will run at the gallery from September 13th thru October 31, 2025 with an opening reception on Saturday, September 13th from 3-6pm.

“A portion of the proceeds from each artwork sold in the exhibit will be donated to the Monarch Butterfly Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing the extinction of the Monarch Butterfly.”

“This is not just about helping preserve a species; it’s about using our gifts as artists to tell a story,” said Dee Nelson. “The monarch butterfly’s journey is a symbol of beauty, resilience and transformation—qualities that resonate deeply with us as artists.”

Boerne’s geographical significance as part of the butterflies’ twice-yearly passage adds urgency and intimacy to this artistic endeavor. Each fall and spring, these butterflies travel thousands of miles across North America. However, their numbers have plummeted due to habitat loss and climate change and experts have predicted that without additional intervention efforts these amazing butterflies may face extinction by 2030.

“When you witness these incredible butterflies pass right over your head,” said Dee, “you realize that our small actions here in Boerne just may have far-reaching impact in the future.”
