River Bugs, Oh My! at Guadalupe River State Park

Discover the tiny creatures living beneath the surface during River Bugs, Oh My! on Saturday, June 27, from 10 am to 11:30 am at Guadalupe River State Park. This hands-on educational program invites visitors to explore the Guadalupe River using benthic macroinvertebrate sampling techniques to identify aquatic species that help support the river ecosystem.
Participants can drop in anytime during the program and will use nets in the water to search for river insects and other organisms, making it an interactive experience for curious minds of all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and guests should be prepared to get wet during the activity.
The program will take place near the river in the day-use area at the bottom right of the stairs, marked by an event table. Guests are encouraged to bring drinking water, sun protection, and water shoes. Pets are not permitted during the activity.
The event is free with park admission. Admission to Guadalupe River State Park is $7 for adults, while children ages 12 and under are admitted free.
Guests requiring ADA assistance are encouraged to request accommodations in advance using the provided form or by email at least two weeks prior to the event.
