What to Expect in Class: Qigong & Tai Chi

Take a break from your busy day with the calming, gentle practice of Qigong and Tai Chi. This class is divided into two parts:

Part I: Qigong (Chi Kung)
Start with slow, repetitive movements that promote relaxation and help prepare the body and mind for Tai Chi. Qigong can also be practiced on its own for stress relief and improved energy flow.

Part II: Tai Chi
Learn the Yang-Wu 46-Movements Tai Chi Form—a flowing sequence of low-impact movements coordinated with breath and focus. Often called “moving meditation,” Tai Chi enhances balance, flexibility, and calm. Movements can be done standing or seated.

Please wear loose-fitting clothing. No equipment needed.

Lavada Smith brings a rich blend of experience, knowledge, and calm energy to every class she teaches. A certified Qigong Instructor and Practitioner since 2018 and a certified Tai Chi Yang-Wu Form Instructor since 2016, Lavada shares her deep understanding of mindful movement with grace and patience.

Before stepping into the world of holistic wellness, Lavada spent 48 years in the fields of technology and engineering, followed by a decade as a kinesiology and massage therapist. Her lifelong curiosity about the connection between body, mind, and energy has shaped her teaching style—gentle, grounded, and accessible to all.

Outside of class, Lavada enjoys the quiet companionship of her beloved pets, who have been constant friends through each phase of her journey.
