Escape to the Texas Hill Country for a weekend of mahjong, themed activities, and resort relaxation during the 2026 Summer Mahjong Retreat at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort from Friday, September 18 through Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Presented in partnership with Hill Country Mahjong, the retreat welcomes mahjong players of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced players. The weekend features eight curated mahjong sessions, including guided strategy bootcamps, open play, tournament sessions, and championship play.

Each day has its own theme, beginning Friday with Country Club Chic, followed by Old Hollywood High Rollers on Saturday and Mahj Gone Wild Saturday evening, with animal-print attire encouraged. Sunday wraps up with Zen Mahj and a farewell celebration.

The retreat ticket includes a welcome drink and appetizers, the Mahj Gone Wild dinner, three open-play sessions, three strategy bootcamps led by Hill Country Mahjong in collaboration with The Mahjong Line, two tournament sessions, retreat activities, and mahjong-themed swag. Guest rooms are available separately and are not included with the retreat ticket.

The weekend begins with arrival and check-in Friday from 4 to 6 pm, followed by a welcome reception, the first mahjong bootcamp, and casual patio play with a complimentary s’mores bar. Saturday includes additional instruction, tournament play, free time, casual play, dinner and cocktails, and championship play. Sunday features sunrise yoga, final open play, and a farewell and awards wrap-up with prizes and a group photo.

The retreat will be held at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort. Spots are intentionally limited for an intimate experience, so advance registration is recommended.
