Too Little, Too Much: The Hill Country Water Challenge at Herff Farm

January 26 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Too Little, Too Much: The Hill Country Water Challenge at Herff Farm

An evening focused on one of the Texas Hill Country’s most pressing environmental issues will take place at Herff Farm with a program examining the growing challenges surrounding water availability and extremes. Too Little, Too Much: The Hill Country Water Challenge will be presented by Clint Carter, Watershed Ecologist with the Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District, and will explore how extended drought, severe flooding, and other hydrometeorological extremes are reshaping the region.

The program will address the ecological impacts of long-term water scarcity on riverine and riparian ecosystems, along with the effects of major flood events, including the historic July 4th flood. Carter will also discuss how geospatial technologies are being used to measure vegetation loss, assess habitat vulnerability, and evaluate ecosystem resilience following extreme weather events. His work focuses on water quality monitoring, riparian health, invasive species management, and watershed restoration throughout the Hill Country.

This event will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Herff Farm, located at 33 Herff Rd., Boerne, TX 78006. Social time begins at 6 pm, followed by the chapter meeting at 6:30 pm, with the program starting at 7 pm. Attendance is available both in person and via Zoom, with online participation details provided on the chapter home page.
