5 Parades in Boerne, TX Each Year
We have five parades throughout the year, starting at the beginning of summer and ending right before Christmas. Let’s take a look at each.
Das Festival Parade
Date: Saturday of Father’s Day Weekend
Route: Main Street, Hill Country Mile
The Das Festival off Kendall parade is part of our annual German heritage celebration, which replaced the Bergest Fest parade that ended after decades. This parade is sort of a summer kickoff down the Hill Country Mile, filled with festive floats, colorful costumes, live music, and if you’re lucky, beer tokens.
The Das Festival Parade honors the town’s roots and kicks off the larger Das Festival of Kendall event. Awards are given in categories like “Most German,” “Best Civic Group,” and more. This one always lands on the Saturday morning of Father’s Day weekend. As of the time of publishing this article, this parade has already taken place earlier this summer. It was a blast – and yes, we got a beer token!
Kendall County Fair Parade
Date: Saturday, August 30, 2025 (Labor Day Weekend)
Route: From North Main at Frederick Rd south on Main towards the Fairgrounds
A long-standing Boerne tradition, the Kendall County Fair Parade brings together floats, bands, civic groups, and classic cars for a festive kickoff to Labor Day weekend. Expect a hometown crowd, a fair queen float, and plenty of candy for the kids. This parade signals the end of summer and school getting underway.
Parade lineup begins at 8 am, judging starts at 9, and the parade rolls at 10 am sharp.
Register here if you’d like to participate.
Boerne High School Homecoming Parade
Expected Date: September (usually Monday evening before Homecoming Game)
Route: E Blanco from Main Plaza to BISD Stadium
This parade is all about school spirit. Students, athletes, and floats line up on E Blanco and make their way toward the stadium, where the evening ends in a community-wide pep rally. It’s a fun, candy-filled celebration and one of the only parades that doesn’t take place on Main Street. Bring the whole family and show your Greyhound pride.
This year’s date hasn’t been announced yet, but we’ll update you when it has.
Champion High School Homecoming Parade
Expected Date: Late September-ish (usually Monday evening before Homecoming Game)
Route: E Blanco from Main Plaza to BISD Stadium
Just like Boerne High’s parade, the Champion Chargers take to E Blanco to gear up for Homecoming. Their game generally happens after Boerne High School’s, and never the same night since they share stadiums. Expect decorated floats, Champion High athletes, and a high-energy crowd ready to cheer. The parade ends with a pep rally at the stadium, and kids can fill their bags with candy along the route.
Weihnachts Parade
Date: Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 6 pm
Route: Main Street, from the Fire Station to River Road
Boerne’s only night parade, the Weihnachts Parade is a magical, family-friendly tradition that closes out the year in glowing fashion. Up to 100 holiday-lit floats, marching bands, and performances travel down Main Street, turning downtown into a twinkling Christmas spectacle. This year marks the 38th annual celebration, and it’s always held on the first Saturday of December.
In the event of inclement weather, the parade may be moved to Sunday, December 7.
Fees to enter:
Nonprofits – $25
For-profits – $40
Insider Tips for Attending Parades in Boerne
Never been to a parade here before? No worries. Here are a few tips for you to have the best experience possible.
- Go put out your chairs early. Boerne residents have been known to claim spots as early as the night before a parade. Especially the big three on Main Street.
- Bring a bag for candy. A lot of the floats will be handing out candy (most don’t throw it anymore as rules have changed over the years).
- Plan for streets to shut down. Generally Main Street closes at least an hour before a parade starts. Make sure you don’t park on Main, and plan your route accordingly.
- Think about the shade. Many of Boerne’s parades happen during the hotter seasons. So when you choose a spot, think about where the sun will be.
