Parks in Boerne
Boerne City Lake Park
Location: 21 Upper Cibolo Creek Rd
Located just northwest of town, Boerne City Lake Park is a favorite for outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy fishing, non-motorized boating, and picnicking, along with an 18-hole disc golf course. The park also offers stand-up paddleboard and kayak rentals, making it a great spot for a day on the water or even in it swimming!
Boerne City Park
Location: 106 City Park Rd
As the largest park in town, Boerne City Park is bordered by Cibolo Creek and features open green spaces, sports fields, tennis courts, and jogging trails. The playground was recently upgraded and designated as Ammie’s Playground, featuring inclusive play structures designed for children with disabilities.
River Road Park
Location: 100 River Rd
Running alongside Cibolo Creek, River Road Park is a favorite for walking, fishing, and birdwatching. The park, which was recently upgreded, features a paved walking trail great for strollers, board walk, fishing piers, and shady picnic areas. It is also conveniently located across from several restaurants with great patios, including Pinchy’s, Sunny’s, Pioneers Meats and Dodging Duck, making it the perfect place for a post-meal stroll.
Northrup Park
Location: 37550 Frontage Rd
A hub for baseball and softball fans, Northrup Park is home to multiple sports fields and leagues. In addition to baseball, the park offers outdoor recreation opportunities for the whole family. It also has the only covered public basketball court in town, making it a great place to shoot hoops even on hot summer days.
Kinderpark
Location: 111 Water Street
This fenced, shaded playground is designed with young children in mind. It features multiple play structures, a climbing wall, and a huge slide that kids absolutely love! Parents can relax on the benches while the little ones burn off energy. This is one of our favorite family spots in town and also a great place for a birthday party.
Main Plaza
Location: 100 N Main St
Located in the heart of Boerne, Main Plaza is where the community comes together for concerts, festivals, and events. With its historic gazebo and large open space, it’s a great spot to relax and take in the small-town charm, even when no events are going on.
Veterans Plaza
Location: 801 S Main St
This park is dedicated to honoring military service members, with tree-lined sidewalks leading to the Veterans War Memorial. There is also a designated box at the back of the park where visitors can retire old flags respectfully. Annual Veterans Day and Memorial Day ceremonies are held here.
Northside Community Park
Location: 524 Adler
Northside Community Park is located off Adler and is anchored by the Boerne Skate Park. It’s also well known as one of the very best places to see bluebonnets in town. There’s a small playground and open fields for soccer.
Thanks to the 2022 Bond, this park is slated to be completely revamped to add a splash pad, pickleball courts, dog park, and more. The project breaks ground September of 2025.
Natural Areas in Boerne
Cibolo Center for Conservation
Location: 140 City Park Rd
Formerly the Cibolo Nature Center, this 100-acre preserve offers trails through diverse ecosystems, including prairies, marshlands, and woodlands. Birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts will love exploring this area, which also hosts educational programs and conservation efforts.
Kreutzberg Canyon Natural Area
Location: 143 Mark Twain Dr
This stunning natural area along the Guadalupe River offers miles of hiking trails, fishing spots, and opportunities to observe native wildlife. With its scenic overlooks and river access, it’s an ideal place for a day of adventure. This is one of the best hidden gems in Boerne.
Boerne City Campus Nature Area (BCCNA)
Location: 451 N Main St
Located directly behind the Patrick Heath Public Library, the Boerne City Campus Nature Area will add even more trails to Boerne’s growing outdoor offerings. In fact, you can already see the progress from the Old No. 9 trail. The Boerne Parks Association is working on developing this natural space, which will eventually provide walking paths and scenic spots for all to enjoy. This project is another step in Boerne’s commitment to balancing urban growth with green spaces for the community.
