The 7-Year-Old Who Waves at Boerne High School Every Day

If you’ve driven through the Boerne High School pickup line in the afternoon, there’s a good chance you’ve already met him.

For nearly two years now, a 7-year-old boy whose backyard backs up to Boerne High School has made it his daily mission to stand by the fence, hold up a sign, and wave at passing cars.

And every day, they honk back.

It started simply.

“We moved here in April of 2024,” his mom Laura Robinson told us. “Judah would just go out there and wave at cars. And they would all honk and wave back.”

No plan. No big idea. Just a kid having fun.

But then one day the BHS tennis coach came over and introduced himself.

“He told us that they loved hearing all the honking and really liked his joy,” Laura said.

The next week, the tennis team showed up with a sign for him to hold so even more cars would honk. And that is when this small daily habit quietly turned into something bigger.

After his birthday in 2024, the vice principal came by to introduce herself. She later posted about him on the Boerne High School’s social media accounts.

“It was really sweet to see how many people know him because of him waving,” Laura said. “The comments were so kind and sweet about how he truly just makes people smile after a long day.”

And that’s the thing.

At the end of a school day, when teens are tired and teachers are ready to go home, there’s a 7-year-old standing at a fence smiling like he means it.

People have stopped by to drop off Boerne Greyhound shirts and hats. Some have brought birthday gifts. High school girls showed up before school this year to decorate the fence for his birthday.

“Truly, it just reminds us how much we love being in what feels like a small town,” Laura said.

They keep it fun. Holiday signs. Summer countdowns. Anything to keep the energy going.

“He’s a really sweet kid,” she said. “But Boerne makes it all so much more fun.”

If you’ve honked, you are part of it now.

And here’s one more layer to the story.

His mom, Laura Robinson, is now a contributor for The Boerne Life. She gathers content, creates social posts, and writes guides for us. So if you’ve enjoyed something you’ve read or seen from us recently, there’s a good chance she had a hand in bringing it to life.

Which feels fitting.

Because this whole thing started with a simple act that made people smile. And that’s really what this community and The Boerne Life family is all about.

So the next time you drive by Boerne High School and see a sign at the fence, give a honk.

Judah will be waving.
