If you’ve ever cleaned out your garage and found old paint cans, fertilizers, cleaners, or mystery jugs you definitely don’t want to open… you’re not alone. Luckily, Boerne has a super easy (and free) way to safely dispose of hazardous and hard-to-recycle items — and most people don’t even know it exists.
Boerne Utilities customers can use Waste Management’s At Your Door Special Collection® service. They’ll pick up things like automotive fluids, paint, pool chemicals, electronics, fertilizers, and more right from your home, at no cost.

How to Have Your Hazardous Waste Picked Up
1. Schedule a pickup
Call (800) 449-7587 or email AtYourDoor@WM.com to request a home collection. Have a list of items ready.
2. You’ll get a collection kit in the mail
Inside is everything you need to properly package your items for safe pickup.
3. Set your items outside by 7:00 a.m. on your pickup day
Place them near your front door or garage, and make sure they’re easy to see from the street. You don’t need to be home.
What They Accept
This service covers a lot of the common “uh… where does this go?” items such as:
Automotive: motor oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, filters, fuels
Household cleaners: ammonia, heavy-duty cleaners, tile remover
Pool chemicals: chlorine, stabilizers, acids
Electronics: TVs, monitors, computers, phones, printers
Garden chemicals: fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides
Paint products: caulk, stain, thinner, glue, stripping materials
Other household waste: artist paints, CFL bulbs, sharps
What They Won’t Take
Ammunition, explosives, medicines, asbestos, leaking containers, commercial waste, or anything over 5 gallons.
A Few Helpful Notes
- Pickup happens Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Items must be outside the home (not inside the garage or behind a gate).
- If you need to reschedule, call 1-800-449-7587.
- Boerne Utilities customers pay nothing for the service. It’s already included.
So if you’ve got a stash of old paint cans, half-empty weed killers, broken electronics, or anything that makes you think “I really shouldn’t put this in the trash”… this service is absolutely worth using.
Boerne makes it easy. Just schedule, set it outside, and let Waste Management take care of the rest.
