The summer might be winding down, but the Boerne sky should be full of excitement tonight into tomorrow morning. The Perseid Meteor Shower is set to peak the night of August 11th into the morning of August 12th with a rate of 50-100 meteors per hour.
Especially if you live out in the county where the skies are darker and clearer, you could observe something truly phenomenal if you stay up late or wake up early tomorrow morning. The peak should last from about 11 pm to 6 am. And the moon should cooperate with little light pollution.
If you plan on viewing, we recommend turning off all your lights outside and give your eyes about 10-20 minutes to adjust. The meteors should enter the northeast sky. We’ll likely grab a blanket and climb up on the roof!
The Perseid Meteor Shower occurs each August, and is often one of the best of the year.
