A New International Deli Is Coming to River Road

If you’ve driven down River Road lately, you might have noticed a bright red sign go up next to Pinchy’s at 312 River Road. The building, a restored Hill Country cottage, is about to become home to Pioneers Meats, an international deli and specialty food shop unlike anything else in Boerne.

Breaking News Presented by Mesquite Archery

Speaking of specialty meats, if you’re looking to grab a bow and go hunt for your own, then you need to know about our sponsors, Mesquite Archery. Owned and operated by a lifetime Boerne resident, Mesquite Archery has everything you need for this hunting season, whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a complete beginner, including both indoor and outdoors ranges.

Visit them for no-frills, common sense advice from someone who has been bow hunting for decades. Learn more on their website or visit them at their Boerne location,  41205 I-10 Bldg D, Boerne, TX 78006.

Pioneers Meats is a family-owned deli and specialty food company founded by a family from Southern Africa, now proudly based in Texas. The owners describe their mission as blending the authentic flavors of their heritage with the bold spirit of Texas craftsmanship.

The shop will feature premium cured meats like biltong, droëwors, and boerewors (traditional South African favorites) along with cheeses, sauces, olive oils, sweets, and spices from around the world. In short, it’ll be a global deli with a Boerne heart.

So the sign’s up, but when will they open?

“We’re looking to open toward October, but permitting might push that out a bit,” the owner Nelson Pereira told us. “We’ll have a better idea soon. We’re just excited to finally bring this concept to town.”

This will be the second location for the owners, who also run a small production site in Pipe Creek. That space will remain open two days a week once the Boerne deli launches.

With its focus on handcrafted products, international ingredients, and family-run charm, Pioneers Meats adds something entirely new to Boerne’s growing food scene.

Keep an eye on the space in the coming weeks, and an appetite ready for something different. You can also follow them on Facebook here.
