The Guide to Trick-or-Treating & Trunk-or-Treats in Boerne

With Halloween falling on a Friday this year, kids have even more opportunities than usual for trunk-or-treat and trick-or-treat fun in Boerne. That’s because there are events happening all week long and a full slate the weekend before.

Sponsored by Wilson Roofing & Renovations

When it comes to Halloween, the only thing that should be going bump in the night is a trick-or-treater at your door — not a loose shingle on your roof.

Our partners at Wilson Roofing & Renovations say fall is the perfect time for a preventative roof inspection before winter weather rolls in. It’s calm now, but small leaks and flashing issues can creep up like ghosts if left unchecked.

Trick-or-Treat and Trunk-or-Treats Hosted by the City

Each October, the City of Boerne and the Boerne Retail & Restaurant Owners Association team up to host two of the biggest family Halloween events in town — and both fall on Saturday, October 25 this year.

First up, the Trick-or-Treat Trail on the Hill Country Mile runs from 10 am to 5 pm, where kids and families can dress up, visit their favorite shops, and fill their candy buckets while strolling through historic downtown. Nearly every storefront gets in on the fun, from The Dienger and Two Trick Pony to The Christmas Shoppe, Tusculum Brewery, Flashback Funtiques, and dozens more. It’s one of the most festive (and sugar-filled) days of the year on Main Street.

Later that same afternoon, the fun continues at Boerne Boo! — a city-run Halloween festival happening at the Patrick Heath Public Library from 4 to 7 pm. Expect bounce houses, carnival games, food trucks, arts and crafts, and plenty of candy. The costume contest begins with a parade at 5:45 pm, followed by prizes for kids, adults, and even pets. (Tip: the library closes early that day at 3 pm for setup.)

And don’t forget about the Boerne Visitors Center downtown, which always gets into the Halloween spirit with its Trick-or-Treat basket of goodies from local businesses like Bakery Lorraine, Bear Moon Bakery, The Bubble Tea Factory, The Christmas Shoppe, and The Dienger. They contribute goodies that volunteers hand out to trick-or-treaters throughout October. Supplies go fast, so the earlier you visit, the better your chances of scoring some treats.

Other Events to Get Candy, Candy, Candy

Beyond those two big events, many local churches, schools, and businesses host their own trunk-or-treats during the week of Halloween. Keep an eye on community boards and our event calendar for the latest additions — you’ll find everything from classic car trunk setups to pumpkin-decorating contests and chili cookoffs.

It’s also worth noting that one of our favorite traditions is to stop by the Boerne Fire Department on Halloween night. Firefighters usually have the doors open and hand out candy between calls, making it a fun and memorable stop for families.

Check out the full list of local trick-or-treat and trunk-or-treat events below. It also includes trunk-or-treats happening in Comfort and Fair Oaks Ranch, so wherever you’re spending the spooky season, you’ll have plenty of places to fill your bag.
