Local homeschool families looking to add more outdoor, hands-on learning to their spring schedule may want to take note. Cibolo Nature Center & Herff Farm are now enrolling students for their Spring Homeschool Program, a 10-week experience designed for children ages 5–12.
Presented by Wild Birds Unlimited of Boerne

Wild Birds Unlimited of Boerne helps Hill Country residents experience the joy of nature at home. Located just off North Main Street near 28 Songs, the shop offers high-quality bird feeders, seed, and expert advice on attracting native and migratory birds.
Visit them at 110 Market Ave, Suite 106, and bring a touch of the Hill Country’s wildlife to your own backyard.
Running February 11 through April 22, 2026, the program centers around the theme Nature Sleuths, encouraging curiosity, observation, and teamwork through nature-based learning. Classes alternate weekly between Cibolo Nature Center and Herff Farm, giving students the chance to explore two unique outdoor environments while diving into ecology, sustainability, science, art, and gardening.
Enrollment is limited to 30 homeschool students, and a parent or guardian attends alongside each child. While instructors lead the activities, parents remain responsible for their student’s participation and supervision throughout the program.
What the Program Includes
Students will take part in hands-on lessons that blend environmental education with creative activities, helping them build a deeper connection to the natural world and to their homeschool community. The alternating locations allow kids to experience forest trails, gardens, and farm-based learning, keeping each session fresh and engaging.
Younger siblings ages 3–4 may also attend for an additional $50 fee (children 2 and under are free), provided an older sibling is enrolled in the program. Parents are fully responsible for supervising younger children, and sibling registration is completed separately.
