October means fall will really start to set in here in Boerne. The mornings are cooling off and hopefully the afternoons and evenings will soon follow. And that means we’ll all be looking for reasons to get outside and enjoy the weather.
This month brings everything from pumpkin patches and concerts to markets, fundraisers, and plenty of fall festivals. Here are some of the biggest events to mark on your calendar.
1. Featured: Hunting at Joshua Creek Ranch

October is here, which means our friends at Joshua Creek Ranch are jumping fully into hunting season. In fact, October 4th marks the very first Open Line Driven Shoot of the season with two more on October 25th.

2. Wine & Jazz with Sewing Treble at Indulge Wine Bar – Oct 3
Unwind with an evening of smooth jazz and fine wine at Indulge Wine Bar. Sewing Treble brings their signature sound for a free live performance from 5–8 pm. More info here.
3. Walk the Mile – Oct 4
Raise awareness for survivors of domestic violence with this free community event at the Kendall County Courthouse Complex. More info here.
4. Family Camp Out at Boerne City Lake – Oct 4
This is the only night of the year camping is allowed at Boerne City Lake. Pitch a tent, bring your gear, and enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, and a starry night sky. More info here.
5. Boerne Book Festival – Oct 4
The library hosts author panels, signings, and literary fun for all ages. A can’t-miss for Texas book lovers. Learn more here.
6. Fall Market Day at Cibolo Creek Community Church – Oct 4
A kid- and pet-friendly market in Fair Oaks Ranch featuring local vendors, food trucks, and fall fun. More here.
7. Hill Country’s Got Talent – Oct 4
Boerne Community Theatre presents its ninth annual talent show with a Fabulous 50s theme. Expect poodle skirts, pompadours, auctions, and plenty of retro flair. More info here.
8. Oktoberfest Weekend at Local Breweries – Oct 4–5
From brat-eating contests at 28 Songs to stein-holding at Free Roam and Cibolo Creek, Boerne breweries go big for Oktoberfest with cold Festbiers, themed menus, and live music. Read the guide here.
9. La Spinetta Wine Dinner at Valeria – Oct 7
A five-course dinner paired with wines from Italy’s La Spinetta winery. Seating is limited, reservations required.
10. 25th Anniversary Celebration – Native Plant Society – Oct 7
The Boerne Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas celebrates 25 years with a special evening at the Cibolo Nature Center Auditorium. Learn more here.

19. Wild Game Dinner – Oct 18
