2025 saw several new restaurants come to Boerne and the surrounding area, adding everything from Tuscan-style pizza and craft barbecue to sushi, seafood, and destination-worthy burgers. Some filled long-standing gaps in the local food scene, while others quickly became favorites we found ourselves returning to again and again.
Here’s a look back at some of the standout openings from the past year.
Featured: Pizza Volterra

One of the greatest additions to Boerne’s food scene this past year was Pizza Volterra. Located outside The Oak at 605 S Main St here in Boerne, this food trailers serves up Tuscan-style pizzas, Panuozzo sandwiches, fresh salads, OroBianco gelato, and more.
They’re open 7 days a week, but often sell out early. So click the button below to place your order now!
Offline BBQ
Offline BBQ might call itself the “tiniest little BBQ joint in Boerne,” but it made a big impact in 2025. Opened behind Cibolo Creek Brewing Co. at 448 S Main Street, this craft barbecue concept is led by pitmaster Vinny Perry and focuses heavily on quality and execution.
From brisket and ribs to half chickens and pork belly burnt ends with a sweet-ginger finish, Offline BBQ brought a creative take on Central Texas barbecue to the Hill Country Mile. They’re open weekends starting at 11 am and can sell out fast.
Pinchy’s Lobster & Raw Bar
Pinchy’s Lobster & Raw Bar officially opened in 2025 at 250 River Road to much anticipation. Located across from River Road Park, the restaurant features seafood-forward dishes, lobster, oysters, solid margaritas, and a patio overlooking Cibolo Creek.
It’s quickly become a popular option for those looking to mix things up beyond the usual Hill Country fare.
Pioneers Meats & International Deli
Pioneers Meats brought something completely new to Boerne in 2025. Founded by a family from Southern Africa now based in Texas, the deli blends authentic flavors from their heritage with bold, confident execution.
The menu features premium cured meats like biltong, droëwors, and boerewors, along with global cheeses, sauces, spices, and some seriously memorable sandwiches. One visit in particular involved a peri-peri chicken sandwich that lived up to its reputation—spicy, intense, and absolutely worth the hype. Located at 312 River Road, this is a spot that quickly went from “new” to “must-visit.”
Sunny’s All Day Brunch & Bar
Sunny’s filled a long-standing request from locals for more all-day brunch options in Boerne. Located at 518 River Road next to Salvador Dobbs, Sunny’s serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with crepes, build-your-own bowls, cocktails, coffee, and more.
The patio alone is worth the visit. It’s covered, misted, and one of the most comfortable outdoor dining spots in town, making it a go-to whether you’re stopping in for brunch or easing into dinner.
Both Hands Burger Bar (Comfort)

Both Hands Burger Bar opened in downtown Comfort at 713 High Street and quickly earned its reputation for elevated yet approachable burgers that are surprisingly affordable for the quality.
Housed in a historic building and backed by the same team behind The Rivulet in Boerne, this spot delivers big burgers that are absolutely worth the short drive. Comfort’s food scene got a nice upgrade with this one.
Shelby’s Dae-ly Cafe (Comfort)
After building a loyal following through the Boerne Farmers Market, Shelby’s Dae-ly Café opened a sit-down café in Comfort inside Shopping With Siobhain at 205 TX-27.
The café serves fresh salads, soups, sandwiches on homemade sourdough, baked goods, pressed organic juices, coffee, and grab-and-go casseroles for easy dinners. Beyond the food, Shelby has also been a strong community supporter, helping serve thousands of meals after the July 4th flood, making this opening feel especially meaningful.
Toro’ko Sushi (Fair Oaks)
Toro’ko Sushi opened a new location at 9091 Fair Oaks Parkway, giving the Boerne area another solid sushi option close to home. From lunch specials like the chirashi bento box to fresh rolls and sashimi, the menu delivers on quality and consistency.
It’s a welcome addition for sushi fans who previously had to drive farther for a reliable spot. Fun fact: this is the last restaurant I ate at before writing this article!
