Sprouts Is Coming to Boerne… and More Surprises

Big news, Boerne. For years, y’all have been asking for a Sprouts or Trader Joe’s to open on the north side of town. Now, Sprouts Farmers Market is officially coming, but rather than opening in the Live Oak Shopping Center on the north side, it will be part of the new Boerne Town Center development on Christus Parkway and IH-10 W.

New Grocery Option Coming to Boerne

Boerne Town Center Plan

Sprouts Farmers Market will be the anchor store in Boerne Town Center, a retail development that will also include a mix of restaurants and stores.

Confirmed businesses coming to Boerne Town Center according to this real estate listing include:

  • Sprouts Farmers Market
  • Matador Barbershop
  • Nothing Bundt Cakes
  • Bad Ass Coffee
  • McAlister’s Deli
  • Panda Express
  • Chicken Salad Chick
  • Red Wing Shoes
  • Playa Bowls
  • Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers
  • KFC
  • Taco Bell

Located near IH-10 and S Main Street, the development is designed to provide convenient access for shoppers, with a newly completed highway exit and entrance ramps to improve traffic flow.

Why Some Residents Expected a Northside Location

Many Boerne residents had hoped that if a Sprouts or Trader Joe’s came to town, it would open in the Live Oak Shopping Center on the north side. Years ago, the shopping center housed a locally owned grocer, and some saw it as an ideal location for another specialty grocery store.

However, recent developments have confirmed that Dollar Tree and O’Reilly Auto Parts will be opening there instead, steering the center’s future in a different direction. With Sprouts now confirmed for Boerne Town Center on the south side, the city will see new grocery and retail options in an area experiencing rapid commercial growth.

Meanwhile, Nature’s Presence Grows on the North Side

While Boerne has been without a major chain health food store, one locally owned and operated natural grocer has been stepping up—Nature’s Presence on the north side of town.

For years, Nature’s Presence has been a go-to spot for vitamins, supplements, and organic products. More recently, they have expanded their grocery offerings, adding more fresh produce, bulk goods, and specialty items for those looking to shop local and organic.

With Sprouts on the south side and Nature’s Presence growing on the north side, Boerne shoppers will now have multiple options for natural and organic groceries.

Development Timeline

  • Phase I of Boerne Town Center is currently under construction.
  • Phase II is expected to break ground in late 2025 as of the time of writing this article.
  • No official date has been set for Sprouts, as far as we know.

Final Thoughts

Sprouts is finally coming to Boerne, just not in the location some had envisioned. With Live Oak Shopping Center shifting toward discount and auto retail, the south side is now home to Boerne’s first national organic grocery chain. Meanwhile, Nature’s Presence continues to serve as a locally owned option for those looking for organic products on the north side.

What do you think of the location choice? Let us know in the comments!

Also, we’d like to thank Elizabeth Wallace for confirming this bit of info for us. We had heard about it, but she posted the plans to our Facebook, which we hadn’t seen yet.
