Back in 2022, a development called Boerne Town Center was announced for a plot of land at Christus Parkway and I-10. It was supposed to include a Panda Express, Mod Pizza, and a few other eateries.

But after that announcement, things went quiet. However, driving by the last few months, we noticed a lot of construction going on in the area.

Well, if you were looking forward to having a Panda Express in town, you’ll be happy to hear – permits have been filed and construction is officially set to begin on October 14, 2024.

Of course, that could be subject to change. But if the activity on-site over the last few months is any indication, the project is moving full steam ahead.

The new restaurant will span 2,700 square feet and represents a $2 million investment in our town by the largest fast-casual Chinese food chain in the US.

While we don’t have a lack of Chinese food locally (we love hitting the Lung Fung buffet!), Boerne does have a bit of a hole in the fast casual category. And Panda Express seeks to fill it.

If you like Panda, the planned opening in April 2025 will give you something to look forward to as we continue to watch the development progress.

So, keep an eye out as you drive past IH-10 & Christus Parkway. There should be some more visible progress soon. No word on which of the other restaurants originally planned in the area are moving ahead.
